Dashrath ka Danda, also known as Dashrathshila, is a popular pilgrimage spot in Rishikesh, India. It is believed that King Dashrath, the father of Lord Ram, did penance at this spot to get rid of the curse of killing a Brahmin. The site is located on the banks of the Ganges River and is considered to be a sacred place of worship.
The site comprises two main temples, one dedicated to Lord Ram and the other to Lord Hanuman. The temple of Lord Ram is believed to be the place where he performed the “Putra-Kamesthi-Yagya” to have a son. The temple of Lord Hanuman is believed to be the place where he emerged from the earth and blessed King Dashrath. It is said that Lord Hanuman appeared in front of King Dashrath and blessed him with a son who would free him from his curse.
The temple complex also includes a temple dedicated to Lord Rama’s wife, Sita and Laxman, as well as a temple dedicated to Lord Shiva.
Tourists and devotees visit the temple complex to pay their respects and offer prayers. The temple complex is considered a peaceful and spiritual place to visit and is a popular spot for Hindu pilgrims and tourists alike.
